About Us

After seeing the work that God was doing through short- and mid-term volunteers in the Tsunami-stricken prefecture of Iwate, Dave and Tomo felt called to go to that area as long-term workers, with a vision to partner with Japanese churches in the area to plant new churches among the cities effected by the disaster. They arrived in Japan in 2013 serving with the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society (JEMS) in partnership with the Iwate 3.11 Church Network. Previously Dave has served as a youth Pastor at his home church in San Juan Capistrano, as well as worked for the JESUS Film Project, a ministry of Cru. Dave and Tomo have a three year old boy, Titus, and a 1 year old daughter, Felicity.

After completing 2 years of Japanese study, Dave recently began an internship with Morioka Bible Baptist Church (MBBC). MBBC is one of the founding churches of the Iwate 3.11 Church Network and has been actively involved in carrying out relief work in many of the coastal cities. We will be serving at the church for two years, where Dave will learn more about Japanese church ministry in preparation for future church-planting work.

Additionally, because MBBC is so connected with the relief work on the coast, there will be many opportunities to participate first-hand in ongoing efforts to support the emotional and spiritual needs of those still greatly effected by the disaster. It is during this time that we are prayerfully seeking to develop partnerships with others in the Iwate 3.11 Network who are interested in church-planting, and to discern where on the coast God would have us go next.

Our full monthly budget is $5,700 per month. We are currently are in need of additional monthly supporters to reach this goal. Special gifts have also played a huge part in sustaining us in Japan over the last 3 years, and we are incredibly grateful to all who have partnered with us in sending us to do this much needed work.

Thank you for your interest in the work God is doing in Iwate. As the Lord leads, we hope you will consider partnering with us in prayer and financial support to continue and expand the ministry God has begun among the survivors of the 2011 Tsunami.
